Sample work I've done
I was a chief architect of the Ceterix NovoStitch line of products. I helped develop the NovoStitch from concept to market release and through all the iterations in between. I was also the chief proponent and developer of the cartridge baed NovoStitch Plus.
I developed the industrial design and complete architecture of the first and latest iteration of the NovoCut. I managed, designed and developed, and lead the latest iteration of the NovoCut from concept to market.
I developed the flexible neck and cable actuation system for the C-Port Flex-A. The goal was to develop a highly flexible neck that could be flexed into a 1.5" radius and double back on itself 270 degrees without losing any actuation performance.
I directed the industrial design and user interface of the Cardica Microcutter X-CHANGE.
I worked on several components inside the first iteration of the Microcutter X-CHANGE including the articulating joint of the distal end, the actuation counter system, the knife retraction system, the deployment mandrels, the rotation and articulation system at the rear knob, and well as the timing belt drive system.
I worked with Resmed on the development of a new nasal pillows design for their C-PAP systems. I collaborated with Resmed engineers on the design of the pillows cavity, the hose swivel and joint connection, the industrial design, the air ventilation system, as well as the band connection.
I have designed and developed dozens of fixtures for testing, manufacturing, and assembly of the Cardica and Ceterix product lines. Fixtures ranged from simple hand tools, to complex PLC actuated fixtures with pneumatics, timers, and pressure gauges.
I specialize in the design of miniature and micro-mechanisms and components. At both Cardica and Ceterix, the aim of our products was to strive for the smallest distal end designs possible. This required me to push our vendors to work at the edges of their capabilities and to think creatively about how to use existing manufacturing processes in new ways to achieve our designs.
I have a depth of experience conceptualize, prototyping, refining, testing, and executing on medical device handle design. I specialize in the development of complex mechanical systems.
